What the hell is High Socks Theory?

Here at High Socks Theory we believe that internet schizophrenia and High Theory do not need to be distinct. Borrowing the high socks trope from both the Cholo/Foo and the Trans Woman/Femboy we reconcile both the author’s major identities as a Chicana and a Trans Woman into a unified field called Foonomenology w/ Latinx Characteristics.

Foonomenology is our personal term for this form of Critical Phenomenonology that deals with the experience of Chicanos specifically, centered around the experience of Angelinos.

The Latinx Chacteristics is a reference both to Socialism w/ Chinese Characteristics, which denotes our adherence to Marxism-Leninism and the identity of being queer and latina. We use the phrase Latinx tongue and cheek as most people do not seem to find a particular affinity for it.

To be more precise however, it is important to note that a material analysis is necessary to understand the struggles Chicano experience not as a feature of encountering repressive ideology but more so the material conditions that birth it. I am Ximena Adeline Valenzuela, the Transfem No Sabo Kid who writes for this blog. In multiple ways I am an outsider divorced from my own ethnicity and my gender assigned at birth. This can be seen as an attempt to reject an active and successful assimilation and embrace authenticity to who I am and want to be.
